your doula AND BIRTH COACH:

meet chelsea:

Hey mama! I'm the founder of Modern Mama, birth doula trained by DTI, and I've got my CPR, AED, and First Aid certification from the American Heart Association. Plus, I'm mama to one amazing little boy!

A little bit about me: You'll often find me championing women's rights and all things female empowerment. I'm a bit of an information junkie, totally hooked on books and always curious. I'm a proud Enneagram 2 with a wing 3, and yes, I'm all about gardening and whipping up some delicious, wholesome meals. Because let's face it, good health is pure gold, right? I'm a lefty, a bath enthusiast, and give me anything that smells like flowers, and I'm in heaven.

Oh, and fun fact: I've had a past life in cryptocurrency, but these days, I'm all about nurturing other badass mamas. Trust me, we're gonna click like two peas in a pod.

When I got pregnant with my son, I went on a quest for knowledge - devouring every bit of info I could find about pregnancy and birth. But seriously, why was it such a treasure hunt?

Where's the easy access to support and resources? That's where my passion for empowering women collided head-on with the birth world. Consider me part of your tribe. You're already rocking it, mama, and I’ve got your back.

questions? I’ve got answers:

What is a doula & why hire a doula?

A doula is there to support you physically & emotionally during your pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. Think of your doula as your pregnancy and birth coach. By providing information, resources, and guidance, your doula will help you make informed decisions throughout your journey into motherhood. Your doula is a part of your birth team, and works alongside your partner and your providers.!

When should you hire a doula?

Most mamas start interviewing doulas during their 2nd trimester. The sooner you hire someone, the more support you can receive. That being said, it’s never too late to hire a doula either – I’ve been hired at 39 weeks!

What is not included in doula support?

A doula does not make decisions for you. Doulas are not medical professionals & cannot diagnose medical conditions.

What can I expect once I hire you as my birth doula?

As your doula, my goal is for you to be informed so you feel empowered to make decisions during your pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Every family is different in their needs and birth preferences, so we will figure out together what’s the right path for you – judgment free.

While supporting you as your birth doula, you could receive the following support, depending on the package you choose:

  • Free consultation with me

  • Help make decisions on your provider and place of birth

  • Help you build an educated birth plan

  • Text support for any and all questions throughout pregnancy and birth

  • Provide local referrals, product suggestions, and nutrition guidance

  • Prenatal meetings in your home - one focused on birth education & one on building your birth plan & postpartum prep

  • On call 24/7 starting at 37 weeks

  • In person support during labor, birth, and two hours postpartum

  • Postpartum visit to your home to support with breastfeeding, sleep, birth debrief & emotional support
